It was in the year 1888 that Francisco Solés i Oliveras, the great-great-grandfather of the present owners (the fifth generation of the family) paid his first industrial tax to ply his trade with salted fish (sardines and anchovies). Down through the generations his descendants have developed this activity in accordance with the changing times, always maintaining the tradition of the past, yet constantly adapting their methods to the most up-to-date technology. This recognised business activity, which has continued uninterrupted for more than one hundred years, has won the family an award which was granted to them by the Girona Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation.

In the following photographs, the evolution of the plant over the years may be observed, from the old building, which was located inside the town and very close to the sea, to the present factory, situated outside the town in an industrial area.
